La'Roi Glover calls it quits

One of the more underrated players in the NFL the last 20 years, former New Orleans Saints All Pro La’Roi Glover is calling it quits. A fifth-round draft pick of the Raiders in 1996, he made his mark on the NFL with the New Orleans Saints. He led the NFL in sacks in 2000 with 17. And he’s a defensive tackle. That’s insane. So insane that it’s the second highest tally for a DT in NFL history. Well….since 1982 anyway when they started keeping track of sacks.

“I’m blessed that I was able to play this game that I love for so long. It has been such an incredible journey. The players, coaches, and front office staff in the cities I’ve played have all given me so many great memories.” Glover added “I still love the game with the same passion I had as a young player in high school, so I plan to always be attached to it in some way, whether commentating, working in the front office, or scouting. But who knows what opportunities await in the next chapter of my life.“

He played for 13 years total, also spending some time with the Dallas Cowboys and craptacular St. Louis Rams. He has 83.5 sacks for his career. Again….insane for a DT.
