Kyle Korver stays with Utah for millions

KyleKorverThe NBA’s most prolific scorer in recent memory has decided to stay with the Utah Jazz for next season.  By not opting out, shooting forward Kyle Korver won’t become a free agent and will earn $5.2 million in the upcoming season.

In the wake of the Shaquille O’Neal, Vince Carter, and Richard Jefferson trades, this announcement by far is the biggest.

PHOTO CAPTIONYou can’t coach this.

Korver played in all 82 games last year and averaged 35 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 3.2 steals per game.  Oops, I’m sorry, those are Michael Jordan’s stats from the 1987-88 season.  I always get confused between the two players.  Let me try again.  Korver averaged 9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.6 steals per game last year.  This is also known as a quadruple-single.

Korver’s teammates Mehmet Okur and Carlos Boozer who also have the choice to opt out or stay for millions, seem to be leaning the opposite way.

That picture is awesome. Kyle Korver is known as a “defensive stopper”.
