VY not going to last in Nashville?

Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean thinks that Vince Young better impress the coaches this year or his $14 million cap number year is going to force the Titans to make a big decision on the disappointing QB. He writes:

All things equal, the Titans would love for Vince Young to blow veteran Patrick Ramsey — and Collins, for that matter — out of the water and succeed. It would make them look better after investing so much in Young after picking him third overall in the 2006 draft. It’s uncertain whether it’s ever going to work for Young in Nashville, and there are those inside the organization who think that it won’t.

That brings us to Ramsey. The journeyman quarterback is familiar with offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger’s offense, and he’s never going to be a distraction. The same can’t be said for Young, who also has this contract situation lurking — his cap number skyrockets to more than $14 million next year.

If Ramsey outperforms Young in training camp and the preseason, the Titans could end up making a decision that impacts them beyond 2009.
