Limas Sweed to get 3rd WR job in Pittsburgh?

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Limas Sweed is having an impressive camp. Last year’s second-round pick was thought to be one of the top WR’s in the draft, but he slipped because of a wrist injury. Now, Bouchette says it looks like he’ll get the slot receiver spot.

He writes in a chat:

“Might [sic] bet is Limas Sweed if for no reason, process of elimination. I don’t think Sean McDonald is physical enough and Mike Wallace, while speedy, does not have the experience. Dallas Baker is a wildcard but I’m leaning to Sweed.”

If he starts to grow into his role and show why he was so highly touted coming out of Texas, the Steelers might have to re-think their run-first mentality. Ok, if Jerry Rice and Don Hutson came back in their prime we don’t think it would get the Steelers to change their philosophy.
