Jets’ Shaun Ellis gets costly suspension
The NFL has formally suspended defensive end Shaun Ellis for one game because of his November 2008 arrest on marijuana charges. The league has also fined Ellis $100,000.

Now, when you look at the lost game check for Ellis, that will cost him $273,529 based on his $4.65 million salary for 2009. The Jets fined him some $10k after incident happened last year. So all told, this little doobie incident is costing Ellis in the range of $400,000.
Kids Alert!: Ok, kids, what did Shaun Ellis do wrong? Well, first of all, you have to know that in life, if you are going to drive your car without insurance, you shouldn’t also be smoking pot at the same time. And if you are going to be smoking pot while driving without insurance, it’s never a good idea to speed. And if you are going to speed while smoking pot in an uninsured car, it’s best to be cooperative with the officer who pulls you over. Ellis wasn’t. But the bottom line here for the children is, just stay home when you are doing drugs. No good comes of doing drugs in a car.
