Tim Donaghy heading back to jail
Tim Donaghy, the NBA referee who was arrested for betting on basketball games (what’s wrong with that?) was re-arrested yesterday morning and is headed back to jail. He had been in a Tampa, FL halfway house and was supposed to be at work. Well, he wasn’t. And apparently you don’t get much leeway in a halfway house.

“He was supposed to be at work but wasn’t there, he was somewhere else,” U.S. Marshalls spokesman Ron Lindbak said.
David Stern’s favorite official of all time is now being held without bond. And considering the vicious beating he took while he was in jail, you’d have to wonder why he couldn’t make it to work when he was supposed to.

“They don’t mess around. The halfway houses have pretty strict rules,” Lindbak. “Pretty much any violation is going to get you sent back to jail.”
Hopefully his new job wasn’t reffing middle school basketball. And hopefully, he didn’t get caught up with a bunch of ruthless fifth graders who ensnared him in their tangled web of lies, deceit and gambling. That could get you sent back to jail too.
