Nyjer Morgan Breaks Hand

Washington Nationals center fielder Nyjer Morgan broke his hand while sliding and will miss the remainder of the season.  Morgan sustained the injury when he slid headfirst into third base during the first inning.  He would later score on a double by Christian Guzman, and then leave the game for replacement Willie Harris.

Morgan was enjoying a breakout season while hitting .307 with 42 stolen bases (caught stealing 17 times!) and 74 runs.  Morgan will be back atop the lineup in 2010, and his Gold Glove caliber defense will remain a huge factor in Washington’s outfield.
