Serena Williams’ meltdown (video)
On match point in the U.S. Open semifinals Saturday night, defending champion Serena Williams was penalized a point for unsportsmanlike conduct after she threatened to shove a tennis ball down the line judge’s throat. Why the harsh words? The line judge decided it was a good time in the match to call a foot fault (she faulted on the first serve as well) as Serena was serving at 5-6, 15-30 in the second set.

She also may have said that she was going to kill the line judge.
After the double fault and penalty point, it resulted in a 6-4, 7-5 victory for unseeded, unranked Kim Clijsters.
Say what you want about Serena’s reaction, but the line judge had no business calling the foot fault. The line judge definitely did not deserve to die because of the call, but maybe a tennis ball shoved down her throat was warranted. You watch and decide, and please feel free to express your opinions in comments.
After the match, Serena jumped on a plane to Carolina so she could suit up as middle linebacker on Sunday for the Panthers when they host the Philadelphia Eagles.

[...] Williams was down two match points and serving 15-30 against opponent Kim Clijsters in their semifinal match when a lineswoman called a foot fault on her. Serena, who probably knew she was going to lose anyway, decided to go completely ballistic and take her frustrations out on the poor and scared lineswoman. You can view Serena’s outburst right here.
