Marquis to the Mets?
New York Mets outfielder Jeff Francoeur says that free-agent-to-be Jason Marquis wants to pitch for the Mets next season.

“He’d love to come here,” Francoeur said. “He’d be a great fit. He’s from Staten Island. He’s a New York type of guy. He’ll probably be coming off the best season he’s ever had.”
But do the Mets want him? They didn’t show any interest when the Cubs put him on the block last year. We are sure that has changed though. The Mets know more than anyone the importance of depth. And after the season that Marquis had with Colorado (15-11, 3.84 ERA), he’s far more than depth. He’d be a great addition to a shattered Mets rotation.
But as the NY Post correctly points out, would the financially strapped Mets have the money to land yet another big-time free agent?
