Kevin Laue Gets Chance with Manhattan Jaspers
Kevin Laue will be the first one-handed Division I basketball player to take the court. The 6-foot-11 center from California is a freshman for the Manhattan College Jaspers. He was born without his left hand, but he has overcome insurmountable odds and has earned a scholarship to play D1 hoops.

"The Chairman" drives the lane.
“It’s to my advantage,” said Laue. “They think they’re going to have an easy game and just whip on some one-handed kid. But I think I’ve surprised a couple people out there.”

OTR realizes that Laue (rhymes with Chairman Mao…well just Mau, not chairman) is an amazing story, and as a result we will not make any jokes concerning the handicapped athlete. This is really hard because we should insert a joke right here…but it doesn’t seem right. The kid has probably taken a lot of crap from ignorant people, and we don’t want to be a part of that.
OTR’s Micah Warren will be blogging live from the Bronx at Manhattan College’s November 14 opener. We are rooting for “The Chairman” and have a feeling he will have a sold rookie season for the Jaspers.
In a related story, OTR is working feverishly to determine why Manhattan College is located in the Bronx.

I know you’re really biting your tongue Pav. This is right up your alley?
