Flyers have record-setting performances

The Philadelphia Flyers barely outlasted the visiting Washington Crapitals Capitals 6-5 in overtime in their home opener on Tuesday night. It was a record-setting evening for a couple of Flyers whose names will not be mentioned.

I’m joking of course. Mike Richards became the first player in NHL Flyers history to score a hat trick in their home opener. The first in 42 years to be exact.

And Chris Pronger’s defensive partner Matt “Hot” Carle? He equaled an NHL record for defensemen by tallying four assists in one period.

This makes the Flyers a virtual certainty to lose in the second round of the NHL playoffs
