Captain Lou Albano dies

CaptainLouAlbano 300x186 Captain Lou Albano diesWe don’t normally cover pro wrestling in this space, largely because we don’t consider it a real sport. Which it isn’t. But we have to acknowledge the passing of one of the true greats. That’s right, 76-year old Captain Lou Albano has passed away at the tender age of 76. He was 76.

The WWE said that Albano was “one of the company’s most popular and charismatic legends.”

“Albano began his storied career with Vincent J. McMahon in the 1960s as one half of ‘The Sicilians’ tag team with his partner Tony Altimore,” the WWE said. “He will be greatly missed by the WWE and his fans.”

Albano was perhaps best known for his associating with Cyndi Lauper in the 1980′s. He also appeared on “Miami Vice” from time to time and played Mario in a Mario Brothers show.
