76ers pick up options on three players
The Philadelphia 76ers have picked up the options on three young players today. Sixers president Ed Stefanski says that the club has exercised options on Thaddeus Young, Marreese Speights and Jason Smith. They are all under contract through 2010-11.
All three are important young players for the 76ers. However, it looks like someday that Young will have to blossom with another team. Small forward Andre Iguodala has a huge contract and can’t play the two. Young isn’t a two or a four and has to play out of position. He’s best suited at the three. And Iggie ain’t going nowhere because he makes too much money and can’t shoot a jumpshot consistently.
