Lee mows down Yankees in Game 1

With all the talk about how dominant New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia is, everyone forgot about a little guy known as Cliff Lee. Lee went the distance and only gave up one unearned run (Jimmy Rollins pulled a Chase Utley and airmailed it into the dugout once the game was out of reach) through nine innings. He also struck out 10, with A-Rod fanning three times.

Sabathia was excellent as well, but made two mistakes to Utley that ended up over the wall. From there the Yankees bullpen imploded and gave up more runs to give the Phillies a 6-0 lead headed into the bottom of the ninth.

The Phils get sort of a free pass Thursday night as they have already at least split with the Yanks in NY. It’s anyone’s guess what happens in Game 2 as A.J. Burnett and Pedro Martinez are about as reliable as a 1988 Yugo.
