Texans aren’t interested in Larry
Despite reports from NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora (who generally does a good job) implying that Larry Johnson to the Houston Texans was all but a done deal, the whiny, spitty RB apparently won’t be headed to the 713.
“We took all the factors into consideration — football, off-the-field issues, and we determined that it wasn’t a good fit for us at this time,” general manager Rick Smith said. “We’ve got confidence in our backs. When we come back from our open date, we expect big things out of them.”
We don’t like calling anyone out, but all too often the media makes bold predictions and statements and is never called on the carpet for them. La Canfora said Tuesday on NFL Total Access, “The Houston Texans are showing persistent interest in Larry Johnson and it’s a place Larry Johnson would be comfortable and right now they have to be considered the favorites.”
He later said, “It seems like at this point something would have to fall apart between the Texans and Larry Johnson for him to go.”
Well, we guess something did. Adam Schefter of ESPN vehemently denied it the whole time, proving that when all is said and done, in Schefter we trust.
This isn’t a dig on La Canfora, but when is Schefter ever wrong? Does anyone have better sources than him? Chris Mortensen is wrong all the time. The only other guy in Schefter’s category is Jay Glazer of Foxsports.com.
