A source tells the Hot Stove Blog that if it means getting more in return for pitcher Roy Halladay, the Toronto Blue Jays will grant a team a window of time to negotiate an extension with the horse pitcher. Currently, Halladay is only signed through 2010 and obviously no one will want to give up the farm for one year of pitching. Conversely, the Blue Jays don’t want to accept a bucket of warm llama spit for him either.
Clearly, new GM Alex Anthopoulos has a much better handle on how to move a guy like Halladay considering his contract situation than former GM JP Ricciardi did. Ricciardi refused to grant such a window and Halladay is still a Blue Jay….so that tells you what you need to know about Ricciardi’s ability to trade the man.
