Lincecum collects second Cy Young Award in a row

TimLincecum2 232x300 Lincecum collects second Cy Young Award in a rowSan Francisco Giants pothead pitcher Tim Lincecum earned his second straight NL Cy Young Award with a 15-7 record and 2.48 ERA.

He won the award with just 11 first-place votes and became the first pitcher to win the award without the most first-place votes since Tom Glavine in 1998. Adam Wainwright from the St. Louis Cardinals had 12 first-place votes.

Many didn’t think he’d win it because of his modest 15 wins, but we think wins are a stupid stat for a pitcher. Unless you are up around 18 or so, it’s not a good indicator of how well you pitched. Hell, you can blow a save and still get a win.
