Houston Texans kicker Kris Brown will take the fall for the loss Monday night to the Tennessee Titans, but there is more blame to go around. How about that lousy horsecollar penalty the Texans took (total BS) to give the Titans a first down on their last drive and got them out of the shadow of their goal posts? How about the defense not being able to stop Vince Young from running at any point?
But no, the blame will go to Brown, who missed wildly on a 49-yard potential game-tying field goal.
“I don’t know what to say,” Brown said. “There’s a lot of adjectives I could use right now. I’m disappointed. I don’t know what to say. It’s all on me. It’s totally on me. The frustrating part for me is we have 44 guys out there busting their tail and one guy out there not doing his job, which is me.”
“I feel tremendously bad for him,” quarterback Matt Schaub said. “He’s a tremendous player, and he puts a lot of time into what he does. He’ll rebound. We’re going to need him before this year’s out to go out there and win us a game, and I have no doubt he’s going to do that.”

Brown also missed a game-tying field goal earlier this season against the Colts, so he surely can’t be thrilled right now about his performance. Missed field goals happen all the time, but what would concern us is the fact that he wasn’t even close. That ball landed in Galveston. Remind anyone of Vanderjagt late in his career? Just sayin’.
