Multiple sources told Yahoo! Sports that New Jersey Nets management have made the decision to fire coach Lawrence Frank when he returns home after the Nets get destroyed by the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night.

The Nets have opened the 2009-10 season with sixteen straight losses and are looking to break multiple records. The Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Clippers hold the record for most consecutive losses to start a season with 17. The Nets are looking to top that Wednesday night against the Dallas Mavericks. The Vancouver Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets hold the record for most consecutive losses in one season with 23 and the Cleveland Cavaliers hold the record for most consecutive losses over two seasons with 24. The Nets lost their final game last season, so their current losing streak is at 17.
Most losses in one season (72-73 Philadelphia 76ers with 73) is also up for grabs.
The plan is for Nets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe to take over as interim coach, but there is still some support within the organization for veteran assistant John Loyer.
