Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports says that, according to a New Orleans Saints insider, the team will be done with 2006 second-overall pick Reggie Bush after this year. He is due to make $8 million in base salary next year and based on his productivity, isn’t remotely worth it.
The source told Cole that GM Mickey Loomis isn’t interested in keeping Bush at that price, even if there is an uncapped year. If Bush wants to stay in New Orleans, he’s going to have to take a huge pay cut. We can’t think of any team in the NFL that would want to pay him $8 million for a year.
It’s tough to call Bush a bust, but at the same time, it’s tough to say that he was remotely worth that pick back in 2006. How smart does former Texans GM Charlie Casserly look for taking Mario Williams over him?

Wow, this is news to me.
With Bell and Thomas, the Saints’ running game is solid. Monday Night Football game against the Pats (with a missing Bush) proved to us that he was not required for a Saints’ win.
He is fun and athletic to watch and I will miss him if he does leave the Saints.
My guess is that Reggie will renegotiate his contract in order to stay in New Orleans with the Saints. He makes tons of money from outside endorsements and jersey/signature item sales and he is loved in the city of New Orleans while the Saints have become a legitimate Super Bowl contender for the first time ever with him on the roster.
My guess is that Bush will want to leave to get a fresh start. I fully expect him to be more productive with another team if he stops dancing around on the field and just run the dang ball. Unfortunate but he’s a talent that just can’t seem to adapt to the NFL yet.
