Jamal Lewis done for season, possibly ending his career

Cleveland Browns running back Jamal Lewis was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, ending his season.  Lewis, who was suffering from a sore ankle all season long, also suffered a serious concussion last weekend against the Cincinnati Bengals.   After the running back continued to suffer from post-concussion symptoms, during this concussion-riddled NFL season, the Browns decided to shut him down for the year.

Lewis played six years with the Baltimore Ravens, including a 2,000-yard season in 2003.  His last three years have been spent with the Cleveland Browns.

The former 5th overall pick in 2000 ran for 10,607 yards, including 58 touchdowns during his career.  He also caught 221 balls for another 1,879 yards and four touchdowns.

Lewis said in the beginning of the season that this season would be his last, but we’ll see if he decides to come back one more time so he can finish his career on the field and not on the IR.
