Damon and Yanks far apart in discussions
Sources tell Foxsports.com that Johnny Damon and the New York Yankees aren’t close to getting a deal done. Apparently Damon, who is represented by Scott Boras, is looking for a three-year deal worth $39 million. If not, the 36-year old would be willing to take a four-year deal worth $52 million. Of course you would, Johnny!
Apparently, the Yankees aren’t budging and only offering a two-year, $19 million deal. The Yankees have a little bit more leverage now that they have added outfielder Curtis Granderson from the Detroit Tigers.
Damon is going to come down quite a bit in his contract demands, or return to the team he came up with, the Kansas City Royals.
