Yanks ink Johnson

The New York Yankees have finalized a deal for DH Nick Johnson. The world champions signed him to a one-year, $5.5 million contract with a mutual option for 2011.

The 31-year old was solid in 2009, hitting .291 with eight bombs and 62 RBI’s. His defense is good enough that he could occasionally spell Mark Teixeira at first as well.
