Charlie Weis hired by Kansas City
Former Notre Dame stick in the mud (or tree trunk in the mud?) Charlie Weis was hired today by the Kansas City Chiefs as their offense coordinator.
“My relationship with Todd and my relationship with Scott and several other persons in the organization made Kansas City look like a fine landing spot for me,” Weis said. “I couldn’t be more pleased.”

Weis has spent the last five seasons as the head coach for the Fighting Irish, finishing with a 35-27 overall record. During the last three seasons, the team failed to make a bowl game in two of the years, going 16-21. There was nothing else for Notre Dame to do but fire his ass.
Charlie Weis and current Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley are offense-minded guys. Charlie was offense coordinator for the New York Jets (1997-99) and the New England Patriots (2000-04). Before becoming coach of the Chiefs, Haley was offense coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals (2007-08). Therefore, don’t be surprised if the Kansas City defense continues to suck.
The Chiefs’ defense was ranked 30th out of 32 teams this season, giving up almost 400 yards and 26.5 points per game. In conclusion, Weis and Haley’s goal this offseason is to come up with a game plan to score 27 points per game.
