Crawford to be dealt soon?
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe thinks that if the Tampa Bay Rays financial situation gets any worse, that outfielder Carl Crawford could be dealt by the trade deadline or even before. Crawford has one year left on his current contract and is probably out of there after the season anyway.
Worse for the Rays is that Cafardo says that Carlos Pena is in a similar situation. And there have been whispers of concern throughout the league about the Rays finances. So they didn’t really capitalize on that World Series appearance? Safe to say? Safe at first?
It doesn’t look good for the Rays. They had built a nice, good young team over the past few years but it could be time for that to melt away. We’re pretty sure the basement of the AL East will welcome them back with open arms. It was nice while it lasted.
