Myers earns NHL Rookie of the Month, world asks “who?”
Buffalo Sabres rookie Tyler Myers has earned NHL Rookie of the Month honors for January. In related news, who is Tyler Myers?
Myers earned the award after netting four goals this month to go along with six assists. He also leads the kids in the league with 24:42 minutes of average ice time per game.
“Obviously, it’s exciting,” the 20-year old said after practice in HSBC Arena. “It’s always nice to get recognized for your play. I’m just trying to take it game-by-game here, and luckily I put together a good month in January.
“It didn’t feel any different,” Myers said while comparing it to his first few calendar flips. “I’m not too worried about points. I’m just trying to focus on making sure I play defense first. Luckily, this last month was a good month for contributing offensively. It’s exciting to get recognized for it.”
