Beltran furious with the Mets?
According to Joel Sherman of the NY Post, outfielder Carlos Beltran is furious with the Mets. He is supposedly very angry with the team and how they publicly handled his surgery. Sherman says that Beltran is wondering if he should have been playing last year.
So what does this all mean? Well, if this is true and he’s this angry with the club, don’t expect him to rush back out there for 2010. He was recently experiencing pain in his knee that prevented him from conditioning, so he opted for microfracture surgery. As it is, he’s going to be out for a while and might not play until some time in April. It’s safe to say he won’t be busting it to get back on the field.
Beltran’s last year of his deal is in 2011. You think he might want to rest up to prepare for his big contract year? We are inclined to think so.
