Patriots franchise Wilfork

CSNNE.com’ Tom Curran posts on Twitter that the New England Patriots have franchised their massive DT Vince Wilfork.
“Vince Wilfork has been franchised according to a league source. Paperwork filed today,” he tweets.
Wilfork is now guaranteed $7.003 million this season on a one-year contract. Wilfork has said in the past that he wants no part of the franchise tag, and instead would like a long-term deal with the club. That is still not out of the question as the club and the 28-year old defensive centerpiece still have until mid-July to work something out.
