Royals mascot accused of poking fan in eye with weiner
Slugger the Lion, the mascot for the Kansas City Royals, last season poked a fan in the eye with a hot weiner. It was the most action the ballpark had all season, but now the club is being sued over the incident, according to our pals at TMZ.com.
The lawsuit, filed by John Coomer in Missouri, claims that he was just hanging out at a game when Slugger “climbed atop the third base dugout and started shooting hotdogs into the stands from an air gun.” Eventually, the mascot put down the launcher and started chucking the hot dogs with his hands. And that is where everything went miserably wrong.
The lawsuit says, “Slugger lost control of his throw or was reckless with his throw, and threw the hotdog directly into the Plaintiff.” It doesn’t say whether or not Mr. Coomer was sleeping after watching the Royals go three-up and three-down for five innings straight.
Coomer claims that the hot dog hit him in the eye giving him a detached retina and the development of cataracts. He is suing the Royals for $25,000 because they “failed to adequately train its agents … in the proper method in which to throw hotdogs into the stands at Kauffman Stadium.”
Most Royals fans tend to just sue the club to refund their ticket prices for failing to put an adequate baseball product on the field.
