Shaq’s thumb injury seems serious
Cleveland Cavaliers center Shaquille O’Neal (some refer to him as Shaq) banged up his right thumb against the Boston Celtics Thursday night, and now it ain’t looking so hot. An MRI on Saturday night confirmed that he did indeed sprain some ligaments.
Now, Shaq and team physician Richard Parker are headed to Baltimore to get another opinion of the injury. This isn’t good. If for some reason he has a tear in the ligament, he could need season-ending surgery, which would kind of go against the whole reason he was brought to Cleveland in the first place….which was to help LeBron James get over the hump in the playoffs.
The team has not put a timetable on his return, which isn’t shocking. If it isn’t torn, they might just want to be very careful with it so he can play when it counts.
He’ll certainly get no sympathy from loyal Miami heat fans who consider him to be one of the biggest backstabbing athletes if not the worst one they’ve ever seen. His theme song is actually “Backstabbers” by the O’Jays.
