Redskins to pursue Peppers?

JuliusPeppers1 Redskins to pursue Peppers?According to Jason Reid of the Washington Post, the Washington Redskins are expected to go after soon-to-be free agent DE Julius Peppers. This isn’t entirely surprising since he’s probably the biggest name on the market, there probably won’t be a cap and Dan Snyder likes to spend tons of money on names regardless of whether they are a fit.

It also helps that Peppers has been saying for quite some time that he wants to play outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme and the Redskins are seemingly moving to that type of defense. Forget the fact that Peppers is 30-years old and never played that position before. That won’t stop Snyder!

And as far as the Redskins switching over to the 3-4, they don’t seem to really have the personnel to do it. They would be asking relatively lazy DT Albert Haynesworth to play the nose, which he’s never done before. If you don’t have a nose tackle, you can’t run this defense. But, that won’t stop Snyder!

The only player who we see that is ready to excel in a 3-4 is second-year man Brian Orakpo, who seems to be able to play either OLB in the 3-4 or DE in the 4-3. He will probably be fine. You’d then be counting on a ton of money in Haynesworth and Peppers to succeed at entirely new positions. Then again, if Jason Campbell is still their QB, they may not plan on winning much of anything in 2010 anyway.

Look for more problems on the Redskins’ horizons.

there switch would be fine orakpo, peppers, and andre carter would rotate in those out side backers spots, london and rocky mac will play the inside backers with hb blades backing them up haynesworth would play the right d-end in a 3-4 where ngata plays for baltimore and phillip daniels/jeremey jarmon, ked golston would play the other d-end and they would just need to either pick up a free agent nose tackle or one in the draft (cody, dan williams, brian price, cam thomas)….not to mention Haslett and Shanahan have already said it would be a slow transition with mostly 4-man fronts anyway the addition of peppers would just add another guy who can after the quarterback (orakpo, carter, haynesworth,, peppers) doesnt sound bad to me if synder wants to spend his own money bruce allen will make sure we dont get screwed if the cap comes back… lame sarcastic tone in this weak article

  2. Sure, just pick up a good nose tackle to run the 3-4. It's only the crux of the entire defense. Shouldn't be any problem finding someone to handle those duties. Fucking idiot.

  4. That's pretty funny. I thought you were talking about finding a Jamal Williams in his prime type player. Yeah you could definitely find some big bodies to throw in and out of there.

yeah to be an elite 3-4 team the nose is key and the skins will need to draft one eventually if they plan on completely transitioning to that type of defense but for the time being they have parts they can throw in there and the rest of the d looks decent enough..having said that if they plan on going after peppers and using all there money on him instead of offensive lineman then the skins will see a repeat of last year 4-12

  7. Im not gonna lie, youve lost me here. I know which you meant well and you certainly know what youre discussing, but I cant say that I get where youre coming from. Should you want folks to realize your points, you need to consider the other side with the argument, too. Youve got a wealth of knowledge, Ill give you that. But, very frankly, you turned me off together with your tone.
