What’s next for Derrick Mason?
The Baltimore Ravens and wide receiver Derrick Mason were not able to agree on a two-year deal before free agency started on Friday.
The Ravens wanted to retain him and Mason wanted to come back, but no deal was struck. Furthermore, it seems Mason has lost all his leverage after the Ravens traded for wide receiver Anquan Boldin. In addition, the Ravens no longer view the free-agent wide receiver as one of their priorities, a league source said.
Ravens beat writer Jamison Hensley suggests that the Ravens could wait until after the draft in April to re-sign Mason. The Ravens could still value Mason as a valuable number two option, but the price for that position will be far less now with Boldin in the nest.
The New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins have shown interest in Mason, but no visits have been scheduled.
