The pop Hunter heard wasn’t serious
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (god damn that’s the dumbest name in all of sports) centerfielder Torii Hunter heard a pop recently in his surgically repaired groin. The good news? It wasn’t serious.
“I was like, ‘What the heck just happened?’ ” said Hunter, who probably figured he was headed to the Mark Prior List.
Hunter relaxed after he was examined by doctor Lewis Yocum, who told him that the “pop” he heard was just some scar tissue breaking up around the incision.
“They were all relaxed, and I was like, ‘Are you guys not worried?’ ” Hunter said of the team’s medical staff. “It was pretty funny. They told me there will be a point where it will pop totally, I’ll be scared for a minute, and then I’ll feel fine. I guess that’s the process.”
In general though, Hunter said he’s feeling much better and that the injury isn’t bothering him much at all.
“The last two days were like night and day,” he said. “I got out of bed [Sunday] morning and thought, ‘Man, this is nothing.’ ”
