Where’s JaMarcus?

JaMarcusRussell1 300x192 Wheres JaMarcus?JaMarcus Russell showed up to voluntary offseason workouts today in peak condition and was seen doing deadlifts at the team’s facility as early as 5:30 AM this morning. Hahaha! Just kidding! He didn’t show up, according to David White of the San Francisco Chronicle.

White didn’t see JaMarcus anywhere and even asked a couple players if they had seen the former first-round pick. One guy laughed and said “that’s a horror show.” Another starter said “don’t hold your breath.” Yes, these workouts are voluntary, but for guys like JaMarcus, they really aren’t.

This goes back to a point we’ve been trying to make for a while now. Yes, this is a business. But, this isn’t about continually trotting out your huge investment to see what he can do. JaMarcus stinks. He’s lazy, his work ethic is downright horrific and most importantly, the players don’t seem to want to rally behind him.

So, the choice is easy. The Raiders simply have to name Bruce Gradkowski (unless they are able to take newly-acquired LB Kamerion Wimbley and package him with Darrius Heyward-Bey and fleece Bill Belichick into handing over Tom Brady. Just sayin’) their starter. The guys get fired up behind him and the team plays better.

At this point, it’s just not fair to the other 52 players on the Raiders to put this lazy piece of muck out there at QB. First-overall pick or not, it would sink yet another season before it even starts.
