Could Terrell Owens join McNabb in Washington?
In wake of Easter Sunday’s Donovan McNabb trade involving the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles, an interesting thought comes to OTR’s mind (thanks to Bill). With the lack of playmakers on the Redskins’ offense, will Washington owner Daniel Snyder reunite Donovan McNabb with Terrell Owens?
After an un-T. O. esque year with the Buffalo Bills last season, Owens remains a free agent and is still looking for a home. During the beginning of free agency it was being reported that Owens was looking for a deal that would pay him around $5 million per year. We all know that money is never an issue with Snyder.
The success McNabb and Owens had in Philadelphia is undeniable. In 2004, Terrell caught 77 balls for 1,200 yards, including 14 touchdowns in 14 games and played a big part in getting the Birds to the Super Bowl (despite being injured in the first two playoff games).
However, it’s the off-field antics after the season and during the 2005 regular season that hindered any future success the two would have together in Philadelphia. T. O. wanted more money and felt he wasn’t getting any support from his quarterback which caused Owens to sound off at any opportunity.
For the record, it was not McNabb’s place to get involved with another player’s contract negotiations, especially when that player is dealing with an arrogant front office. McNabb remained quiet as he should have, but that is old news so lets move on.
Fast forward to 2010. With the likes of grizzled veteran Santana Moss who isn’t the player he used to be (I guess you can say the same about Owens), Malcolm Kelly, Devin Thomas, and a bunch of roster fillers, would adding Terrell to that offense give Washington a weapon they so desperately need? OTR believes so.
McNabb has proven in the past he doesn’t need weapons to get the job done. Todd Pinkston, Na Brown, James Thrash and Gari Scott aren’t receivers you dream about. But this isn’t 2002 anymore and McNabb’s better years are most likely behind him. So, why not reunite McNabb and Owens one more time and see what they can do?
Or maybe the Redskins will just draft Dez Bryant and stay away from all the drama, who knows?

seriously this is the way to go and pick up westbrook while ur at it……….
