Roethlisberger avoids charges in latest assault
The rumors were right, Big Ben has managed to get himself out of trouble once again. District Attorney Fred Bright announced today that he will not be filing any charges against the Steelers’ QB after a Georgia college student recently accused Ben of sexually assaulting her at a nightclub.
“We are not condoning Mr. Roethlisberger’s actions that night,” Bright said. “But we do not prosecute morals. We prosecute crimes.”
Adding, “I know when I have a case and I know when I don’t. And I do not have enough evidence to convince 12 jurors beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Roethlisberger was guilty of rape.”

Doesn’t exactly sound like a ringing endorsement of his innocence. But then again the 20-year-old accuser also decided not to press charges, which she announced in a letter through her lawyer.
Bright went on to say that both the student and Roethlisberger were drinking that evening (no surprise there), but there was simply not enough evidence to determine for sure what went on in the bathroom. The woman was examined after the incident but the doctor could not say for sure that she was raped and the DNA that was found was not enough to test.
