Jeff Ireland is a dick
Before the NFL draft, then Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant was getting upset at some of the questions that he was being asked by teams in their interviews. We broke his balls a little bit, but the bottom line is that the Dallas Cowboys first-round pick had a point. Some of these questions were just off base.
“They asked me if my mom’s a prostitute,” Bryant says. “No, my mom is not a prostitute. I got mad – really mad – but I didn’t show it. I got a lot of questions like that: Does she still do drugs? I sat and answered all of them.”
Sure, Bryant may have had it rough as a kid growing up. His mother had him when she was just 15 and had had some problems with the law. But does that excuse that kind of unprofessional behavior from an “unknown” personnel executive? No it doesn’t, and the great thing is that now Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports as revealed the name of the jackass who asked him that.

Ireland declined Silver’s request to comment, so Silver asked Harvey Greene, the Dolphins’ senior vice president of media relations, about the incident. Green said: “It’s our organizational policy that we don’t discuss publicly the process we use to evaluate potential draft choices.”

Silver also quotes Kyle Turley, who is always an authority figure on what it takes to get a good ol’ fashioned butt whooping.
“I don’t care who you are or who you’re talking to – that kind of question usually gets your [expletive] teeth kicked in,” says Turley. “I mean, where do these people come from? That’s just completely [expletive] classless and totally unprofessional.”
Maybe the next guy will get Ireland up against a wall for that kind of crap. We think it’s probably warranted.
