Coletti criticizes Kemp
We understand that at certain times players don’t play up to their potential or hit a rough patch. And we understand that sometimes a coach or an executive will publicly call out that player in an attempt to light a fire. And while we understand why someone would do it, we disagree with it.
So when Los Angeles Dodgers GM Ned Colletti went on 790-KABC with Pete Tilden recently and ripped his centerfielder Matt Kemp, we had a problem with it.
“Why is it? Because he got a new deal?,” said Colletti. “Can’t tell you. But you know, it’s below-average. If this is the last day of the season and people are voting for the Gold Glove, his name is not even on the ballot. It’s a shame that he would go from where he was a year ago to revert back to when the ball goes up in the air and you’re not sure where it’s going, or if it’s going to get caught.”
Why would you go after your star in Matt Kemp when there are plenty of other problems with this roster? You know, the one you built, Ned?
