Police confirm that Taylor will be charged with rape
Police have confirmed that Hall of Fame LB Lawrence Taylor will be charged with third-degree rape after having sex with a 16-year old girl. The charge is a felony and comes with a maximum of four years in prison.
Taylor is also charged with third-degree patronizing of a prostitute, which is a misdemeanor.
Town supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence said that police believe that Taylor raped a 16-year old girl, who was “delivered” to a Holiday Inn at approximately 1 AM.
St. Lawrence said the victim was a “runaway” from New York City who was able to communicate with her uncle in order to get her away from her “pimp.”
“She was able to communicate with her uncle who had reported her missing,” St. Lawrence said.
Taylor allegedly paid the girl $300, who then turned the money over to Rasheed Davis, who was her pimp. There was damage to her face, but St. Lawrence says that they believe Taylor wasn’t involved in that aspect of the assault.
“The injury to the victim’s face occurred prior to her entering the room at the Holiday Inn,” he said.
According to police, Taylor was very cooperative when they confronted him in his hotel room at 4 AM. Taylor’s attorney says that he is innocent and police would not confirm whether or not he actually admitted to having sex with the girl.
It isn’t known if Taylor knew the girl was underage, but police point out that ignorance of the law is no excuse.
