Raiders cut Russell
The inevitable has finally happened. The Oakland Raiders have severed ties with former No. 1-overall pick JaMarcus Russell.
Senior executive John Herrera told the AP that the move was made Thursday and that “we wish him well.” In other words, “don’t let the door hit you.”
Russell was expendable after the Raiders collected several other QB’s who are just better at football..
Russell will go down probably as the biggest draft bust in NFL history. Somewhere, Ryan Leaf is rejoicing. Russell produced just seven wins as a starter while collecting $39 million over three seasons.
