Reyes back to the leadoff spot

According to David Lennon of Newsday, the New York Mets have decided to end the experiment that everyone thought was completely moronic to begin with. The Mets will be moving SS Jose Reyes from the #3 slot in the order back to his natural leadoff spot.

“Reyes leading off tonight, Pagan hitting third. Manuel didn’t like the idea two days ago, but can’t blame him for changing his mind. #mets,” Lennon tweets with proper use of hashtags.

Why Jerry Manuel ever thought this was a good idea we have no clue. We understand that without Carlos Beltran they were hurting for a guy in the #3 role, but Reyes? He has decent power for a leadoff guy, but #3? You serious?

Reyes hit .207 since his move to #3 and he should be better in his natural leadoff spot, although he still seems to be much slower since his latest rash of injury issues dating back to last year.
