Ramirez benched for dogging it

Florida Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez is probably the best in the business. The guy hits for average and power and is a fantasy baseball stud. But sadly in fantasy, you don’t get points when your guy For Who For What’s it out in the field and gets benched.

And that’s what happened Monday against the New York Mets, when Ramirez could get to a bloop single and then jogged after it with little effort. Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez had little choice but to bench him.

And what’s worse is that Ramirez doesn’t feel bad about it. According to Joe Capozzi on Twitter, Hanley won’t say he’s sorry.

“Hanley won’t apologize. Says he lost some respect for Fredi. #Marlins,” Capozzi tweets.

So he dogs it in the field and forces the manager to bench him so that he can make a point. Then Ramirez turns around and says that he won’t apologize and that he actually thinks less of the skipper at this point.

Sounds like a great teammate! That’s some leadership going on down there in Florida!
