Mankins turned down huge offer?
We’ve already heard that New England Patriots guard Logan Mankins is not happy with the team in any way, shape or form. But a league source tells Albert Breer of the Boston Globe that there was a pretty serious offer on the table for “a significant period of time.”
The source said that the deal was a five-year contract worth roughly $7 million per year. What?! If this is true, Mankins is out of his mind. You are a guard. Not a blindside left tackle. A guard. $7 million a year for a guard? And he flipped out about it?

Yes, Jahri Evans of the New Orleans Saints broke the bank for the position with a seven-year deal that averages about $8.1 million (depending on all the language in the contract, which we certainly don’t know), but do you really have to be the highest paid guy at a time when there is so much labor uncertainty? There might not be football next year, dude. That means no big signing bonus and no game checks for 2011 if that were to happen.
And because he’s refusing to sign his one-year tender of $3.268 million, it will get reduced to $1.54 million on June 15th. You’re the big winner?
We understand that athletes want to get paid fair market value for their services, and they should. But we think, considering the current state of the CBA, he’s being a little penny wise, pound foolish.

The interface is colorful, has a lot more pizzazz, and some awesome features such as ‘Mixview’ that let you rapidly see connected collections, songs, or other users associated to what you might be hearing. Clicking on 1 of them will center on that item, and an additional set of “neighbors” will come into view, permitting you to navigate around exploring by related artists, tunes, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” can also be great fun, letting you locate other people with shared preferences and getting buddies with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. People concerned with privacy will probably be relieved to find out you’ll be able to prevent the public from seeing your individual listening routines in the event you so choose.
