Jets willing to give Revis largest contract ever for a DB?
We all know by now that New York Jets cornerback Darrell Revis isn’t happy with his contract. On Monday, he sat out minicamp drills pretending to be lightheaded and/or injured, depending on what you believe.
But, the Jets don’t seem to be in any hurry to get a contract extension in place with Revis (and you can probably add four other names to that list). It would seem that the Jets have little interest in extending their own core players, which makes no sense to OTR or the rest of the free world.
But a league source tells Bob Glauber of Newsday that the Jets are actually willing to give Revis the biggest contract ever to a cornerback. Yes, that would seem to include the $16 million per that Oakland’s Nnamdi Asomugha gets. Glauber says that it could possibly exceed $100 million.
If this is true (and we’d have to think that it is), then Revis should probably stop sitting out of practices in order to protest. Maybe this will get done a lot sooner than he thinks.
