James replaces Green for England
According to multiple reports (including that scroll that runs along the bottom of ESPNNews), David James will replace Robert Green in goal for England this evening in Cape Town. England will battle Algeria this evening in an attempt to solidify their standing in Group C.
In case you missed it, this is why Green won’t be playing for England tonight.
That was a 1-1 tie with the United States that will surely keep Green out of any local English taverns for the next 35 years. Regardless of talent, it’s probably a good idea that England made the switch. Green would have been a complete headcase and perhaps would have tried too hard to make up for his earlier mistake. It’s not like there are a bunch of great goalies on the roster. Just throw someone out there.
Call Peter f’ing Shilton if you have to.
