USA fights back for the draw

The United States played like a big sack of monkey crap in the first have against Slovenia. The decided to dick around until they were down 2-0 heading into the half.

But, miraculously they fought back. With help from the trainers, Landon Donovan was able to remove his head from his ass at halftime. He came in short side and blasted a ball north of the keeper’s head to put the USA back in the game at 2-1.

Then, it was Michael Bradley’s turn. Donovan sent a ball in that was nodded down by Jozy Altidore and Bradley played it perfectly into the top of the net. 2-2.

Great job, right?

No, it wasn’t over. A set piece from Donovan saw Maurice Edu come clean through to put the United States up 3-2. Great job, right?

No, the officials called a penalty. No one knows who it was called on or what the call was. Replays showed Bradley getting held in the box. That’s a penalty shot. That wasn’t called. No one was offsides so that couldn’t have been it either.

OTR does not like to bitch about referees in any sport. It’s pointless. You don’t get a call here, but they probably give you a BS call somewhere else. But this call was inexcusable. The refs were horrendous all night, but this call took the cake.

And it took a victory from the United States.
