Smith fractures arm in flag football game, will miss some of training camp
Carolina Panthers WR Steve Smith suffered a broken arm this past weekend while playing a flag football game. He had surgery on Sunday night and the Panthers say they don’t know when he will return to action, but that he certainly won’t be ready for training camp.
Panthers GM Marty Hurney says that Smith “feels terrible about it” and that his focus is on “getting back as quickly as he can.”
Smith’s agent Derrick Fox says that his client will be ready for Week 1.
“I’m not trying to play doctor, but I don’t think he’ll miss any games due to this injury,” Fox said. “He did this while trying to play with and help the kids.”
We’ll see what happens, but this is a setback for the Panthers. Matt Moore is entering his first season as the starting QB and could use all the reps he can get with Smith.
