Lawrence Taylor indicted

ESPN is reporting that former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor has been indicted on charges of rape, criminal sexual act and sexual abuse. If you hadn’t heard, Taylor was arrested a couple months ago on charges that he sexually assaulted a 16-year old who was forced into prostitution.

And when we say “sexually assaulted,” we mean that he had sex with her, but they still call it something that sounds like he forced himself on her.

The next step in this case is most likely a hearing, but the DA is saying that they are having trouble getting in touch with Taylor’s attorney. That’s convenient. Can you pass along this guy’s name in case we ever get indicted on rape charges? Sounds like a real Johnny Cochran over there.

Taylor denies all these charges but it might not matter. Everyone knows he had sex with the girl. He claims he didn’t know she was 16, but ignorance of the law is no excuse. Our guess is that this will be settled without a trial, but that’s just a guess.
