Ferguson gets new six-year deal from the Jets
The New York Jets and D’Brickashaw Ferguson have apparently agreed to a six-year, $60 million contract, according to Adam Schefter.
“Whoa: Jets reached agreement with OT D’Brickashaw Ferguson on a six-year, $60 million extension that includes $34.8 million in gtd money,” he tweets.
The left tackle made his first Pro Bowl in 2009 after being the fourth-overall selection in 2006. We’re curious as to what this could mean for Darrelle Revis, Nick Mangold and LB David Harris. All of them believe they are in line for new contracts and it remains to be seen if this is the first “brick” to fall in line with them getting their new deals.
This is an odd move for the Jets. They usually like to break the bank on free agents who never played in New York as opposed to signing and keeping their homegrown talent. Usually, they just lie to their own guys and tell them they’ll get a big payday soon, then never do it.
