No Cliff Lee for the Yankees?
Joel Sherman of the New York Post is now tweeting that the Seattle Mariners are pulling back on the Cliff Lee deal that would send the stud left hander to the New York Yankees.
“#Mariners backing off #Yankees offer, Post has learned. Does not look like #Yankees are in it,” Sherman tweets with appropriate use of hashtags.
This is a far cry from the close to “done deal” that we were hearing before. The Mariners were supposedly interested in getting Jesus Montero, David Adams and Zach McAllister, but Sherman says they have concerns about Adams’ ankle.
He also says that another team has moved in with a big offer. Based on the fact that just about every single MLB team has been rumored to be interested, it could be anyone. It could be a Dominican winter league team for all we know.
